Lee Robinson, Altana’s founder and CIO, was a recent guest on Aznaur Midov’s podcast Debt Serious, which specialises in deep-dive conversations exploring private credit, leveraged finance, distressed debt, and debt capital markets.
Lee’s episode – The Big Short 2.0: A Bet Against PE-Backed Insurers – was recorded on 1 October just before he spoke at Jim Grant’s conference in New York and was released on 1 November.
In a wide-ranging discussion Lee talks about his investing career, his current positions on distressed sovereign debt and his bet against mortgage-backed securities during the global financial crisis of 2007. He lays out his current concerns about insurers, particularly those tied to private equity and exposed to private credit, setting up the ideal conditions for Big Short 2.0.
