“On 18 October 2023 the US government announced a partial lifting of the sanctions imposed against Venezuela. The price of Venezuelan sovereign debt bonds jumped from around 11 cents up to 19¢. That was very good news for my investors. But that was just the first step as the fundamental positive economic news has yet to be fully reflected in bond prices.

 Given Venezuela’s extraordinary natural assets and potential riches this is still the most attractive asymmetric sovereign debt opportunity in the world. I have been calling it the Trade of The Decade since Altana launched our fund in June 2020 and even at 20¢ I can still see an asymmetric return of five to seven times over the next few years…”
